Tonka bean is an ingredient full of contrasts, sometimes reminiscent of vanilla leather, sometimes of almonds, sometimes even revealing chocolatey facets. Velvet Tonka is characterized by its trilogy of tonka bean, orange blossom and almond. When worn on the skin, it coats it like an oriental delicacy dusted with icing sugar.
The balmy tonka bean is adorned with almonds and rose petals for a velvety touch, and with a hint of tobacco absolute to give it a honeyed feel. In the base, addictive notes of milky amyris wood unfurl, enhanced by ambroxan and vanilla absolute for an unparalleled velvetiness and sensuality.
Velvet Tonka is a tribute to the Moroccan origins of founder David Benedek and to the iconography associated with the region through its flavors and its landscapes, like a sweet, indulgent breeze coming straight from the Atlas Mountains.

A true tonka bean fragrance
You will not find a better tonka bean fragrance. This is so comforting and cozy and makes me think of marzipan chocolates when I wear it. Quality is outstanding for this one as always with BDK.

Velvet Tonka immediately became one of my all-time favourites from the first moment I sprayed it. It's so smooth, warm & comforting. It lingers for such a long time on skin & clothing. I couldn't be happier with it
Smooth and Cozy
Starts off sweet, smooth and nutty but then a medicinal play-dough note comes through and stays through out. I have mixed feelings as the scent is pleasant but unusual. I struggle to smell the scent on me but people have asked me what I’m wearing and they like it.
An unexpected vanilla
I love this for the surprise hit of marzipan and almond at its centre, a darker and more complex scent than I expected from the typically sweet ingredients/ description. This was recommended by wonderful salesperson in Melbourne - it was perfect and I would not have picked it.
Highly recommend trying as one of Libertine’s sample collections if you’re curious and can’t go for a browse. Can’t wait to explore the rest of the BDK range!
