One summer evening at the end of August, Alberto Morillas is strolling along the shores of Lake Geneva. He enjoys these moments of peace and tranquillity by the lake, as the summer sun glistens in the pink and azure water. Suddenly, out the corner of his eye he sees two figures pass him, which catch his attention. A sensual and subtle, yet heavy and intense scent fills the air. 

This perfumer immediately recognises the oud in the perfume impregnating the air. This essential oil, which is sourced from remote corners of Asia, along the Bangladesh-India border, is the soul of Golden Oud. 

Known as Oud Assafi, it is the purest essential oil there is, possessing an extraordinary richness. It is perfectly balanced, is leathery and smoky without being animalic, and has delicate balsamic notes. In order to allow its unique qualities to shine through, certain ingredients are added which bring out its different facets. Frankincense and Bulgarian rose give it outstanding delicateness, papyrus brings out its mystery, and Amyris wood and cetalox give it sensuality and roundness.

Think: Ombre Nomade by LV but with more class

Very remiss of me - forgot to review this a year ago when i bought it... There are LOTS of oud/rose/leather scents out there these days but this is my top pick.

It OOZES class. Its sophisticated and totally balanced whereas some other fragrances of this type are screechy and overpowering (I'm looking at you LV Ombre Nomade...)

If you're into bold statement-making fragrances with just the right mix of notes, Golden Oud is gold class.

Even better, it's a good $300 less than LV.

Perfection in a bottle

This has become my favourite perfume from the moment I first applied. The fragrance takes on a life of its own, changing and improving throughout the day. A superior pleasure in scent.

Amazing

Love the smell of this fragrance, very strong and sexy! Can't go wrong with this fragrance and long lasting.

I was a little disappointed with Libertine, when you purchase the perfume it says you will receive 3 samples from this brand. Which I was extremely excited about to smell the other fragrances from this brand but instead got other samples that were terrible from random brands.
