Take me to church
I think I’m genuinely obsessed with Mortel.
There are fragrances I enjoy, fragrances I admire, and then there are fragrances that seem to get under my skin. Mortel is one of those. I find myself thinking about it when I’m not wearing it, wanting to smell it again, and instinctively reaching for it when I want to feel completely enveloped by a scent.
What draws me in is its almost sacred quality. The smoke and incense don’t feel dark or sinister to me. They feel ceremonial. Like walking into an ancient chapel where incense has been burning for centuries, the air quietly saturated with smoke, resins and warm wood.
There’s something deeply meditative about it. It feels reverent, contemplative and strangely comforting, with a warmth that sits beneath the incense and gives the whole fragrance an almost luminous quality.
I love that it doesn’t simply smell like incense. It feels like incense. It creates an atmosphere around you. Every time I wear it, I find myself stopping to smell my wrist again because there’s something about it that I can’t quite leave alone.
Mortel has become much more than a fragrance I like. It’s an experience I actively crave.
Sacred, smoky, contemplative, warm and utterly hypnotic.
I don’t think I’m ever going to get tired of this one. I absolutely, completely love it.
