An in-depth exploration of this top-notch fragrance house
I've already got Falcon Leather and was pleasantly surprised by a previous Vanilla Powder sample from Libertine, given that I'm not a fan of fragrances with vanilla as the star player. And I'd heard good things about Crystal Saffron. So this discovery set with 6 x 6 mL customisable samples was a great way to check out Crystal Saffron and other fragrances.
Based on my selection here's what rocked:
1. Crystal Saffron - a standout and worth the hype. Super dry, powerful saffron, a hint of leather (?) and good longevity. If you like Maison Crivelli Safran Secret, you'll love this too, but it's bolder and less "soft". I've just ordered the Extrait version of Crystal Saffron to see how they've boosted it.
2. Radical Rose - A lovely rose scent with depth, Not "granny" at all; men can rock this too. Nicely sophisticated. I'll be layering this with Rose Aquor attar by Amouage when i feel like a change-up.
3. Cologne Cedrat - beautiful fresh citrus-y scent with some woods in the base. Not dissimilar to Mancera Cedrat Boise. I'd like it more if it had a bit more longevity on the skin; spray on clothing to help it last.
4. Neroli Oranger - Pleasantly surprised by this one. Hints of Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford but with more 'oomph' and the floral coming to the fore for longer.
5. Santal Austral - Nice enough but compared to the archetypal Santal 33 by Le Labo, this one doesn't project and doesn't last on my skin
6. Bois d'Ebene - A bit 'meh'. The notes sound good on paper…
