Santa Maria Novella’s Fresia fragrance is a very feminine scent with a sweet single floral note. It takes its inspiration from the strong scent of freesia flowers, native to South Africa where the freesia graces many gardens with its beautiful, fragrant flowers. In flower symbolism it is associated with mystery and fascination with the unknown.

Captures the essence of early spring

Freesia soliflores are difficult. They either burn the nose in opening, or are so watery and diffuse that it is hard for the nose and brain to find the scent.

My yardstick is Antonia's Flowers, which has been discontinued. This SMN Fresia is the next best thing, yet is equally as exquisite. This more nuanced, steeped in the early dewy green leaves surrounding the delicate blossom.

I will certainly keep this in my collection as a daily, easy reach freesia. Not too challenging and appropriate for all occassions and locations.

My new favourite

I anticipated all the good things and it did not disappoint me in any way!

I love the gentle, muted yet fresh floral scent it has; some people describe this scent as "soapy" or "fresh out of the shower" scent and I can see why. The sillage is also excellent.

It has quickly become my staple I won't get sick of wearing it everyday.
